The Member of Parliament for Ada Constituency, Hon. Comfort Doyoe Cudjoe, has commended the government for what she describes as the impressive stabilization of the Ghanaian cedi against the US dollar.
Speaking on the floor of Parliament, Hon. Cudjoe expressed strong confidence in the local currency’s performance, insisting that despite suggestions from the Minority, Ghanaians can see and feel the cedi’s relative strength for themselves.
She explained that the cedi’s current stability reflects sound economic management and a collective effort to safeguard the country’s financial system. “The cedi is performing well globally, and the government deserves commendation for maintaining a strong and resilient currency,” she emphasized.
Hon. Cudjoe also underscored the importance of public education and mindset in sustaining the value of the cedi. She urged continuous sensitization, especially among market women, on how to handle and value the local currency.
Drawing an analogy from her own experience at a recent Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) event, she recounted how she presented herself as a young and capable competitor rather than an elderly participant — a mindset that helped her secure a leadership position. She encouraged Ghanaians to adopt the same attitude toward the cedi, treating it with pride and confidence to boost its perception both locally and internationally.
The Ada legislator also commended the Governor of the Bank of Ghana and all government financial agencies for their role in maintaining monetary stability. She called for sustained vigilance and prudent policies to ensure the cedi’s long-term strength and protect the economy for future generations.
