Asueyi chief calls for peace, unity, and community development

Nana Oti Panin, the Chief of Asueyi in the Techiman North District of the Bono East region,  has called for peace, unity, and support from the people of Asueyi to help develop the community to the standard they all desire.

He made this appeal during the celebration of this year’s Yam Festival at his palace. According to him, the community can only develop to greater heights if there is peace, unity, and understanding among the residents. He assured them that the Asueyi Traditional Council has put a lot of measures in place to ensure the development of the community; however, without the support of the people, this cannot be achieved.

“As a leader of this community, my aim is to help develop Asuiye. The traditional council has put in place many measures to ensure development, but we cannot achieve this alone, we need the support of all the people of Asuiye. Without love, peace, and unity, we cannot develop our community. I therefore plead with everyone to come together and support our efforts.” He said.

Touching on security and social issues, Nana Oti Panin revealed that residents had earlier raised concerns to the traditional council about rising cases of theft and other social vices in the community. In response, the council set up a committee to investigate.

According to him, the committee’s findings revealed that the main cause of these deviant behaviors was the trade and use of illicit drugs. He added that through its work, the committee apprehended some individuals believed to be behind the drug trade.

“Recently, the people of Asuiye raised concerns to the traditional council that theft and other social vices were becoming rampant in the community. In response, the council set up a committee to investigate. The committee reported that the main cause of this deviant behavior is the trade and use of illicit drugs. Through their work, they apprehended some individuals believed to be behind the drug trade.

“The traditional council has handed the accused individuals to the police, who have now taken over the case. I have heard rumors that we may be bribed to cover up the matter, but let me assure you: such a thing will never happen. We are all working for the betterment of this community, and the case is now in the hands of the police. The law will take its due course.”

Nana Oti Panin further appealed to residents to support the council’s efforts in keeping the community safe.

“I will also entreat everyone to help keep our community safe. If you see anything that may bring the name of our community into disrepute, kindly report it to the committee, and the right action will be taken.”
