The Minister of Education and Member of Parliament for Tamale South, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, has announced that a comprehensive National Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) policy document has been drafted and will soon be submitted to Cabinet for approval.
He made this known during a sod-cutting ceremony for the construction of a TVET Centre of Excellence in the Savannah Region.
Hon. Iddrisu explained that the new policy aims to provide a unified framework for coordinating and improving technical and vocational education across the country. Once approved, it will serve as a national roadmap for harmonizing all TVET initiatives to ensure quality, relevance, and alignment with industry needs.
“A comprehensive national TVET policy has been drafted and I will soon submitted it to government for approval. Once it’s launched, the policy will serve as a guiding framework for harmonizing all TVET initiatives in the country.
The Education Minister further disclosed that discussions are far advanced for the establishment of a dedicated Vocational Education and Training (VET) Fund. The proposed fund, he said, will provide sustainable financing for technical and vocational institutions, expand infrastructure, and strengthen practical training across all levels.
‘We are also far advanced in our discussions into establishing a VET fund that will fund technical and vocational education so that we can expand infrastructure and move away from theoretical academic education to practical skills development.
