Social Media -X user “The Asante Nation” believed to be affiliated to the Manhyia Palace has warned the Member of Parliament for Tempane, Lydia Lamisi Akanvariba over her recent comment about the Asantehene with regard to Bawku conflict mediation.
For lasting peace in Bawku, the MP urged the Asantehene to swiftly mediate the conflict, confident that his intervention will bring resolution.
Reacting to this, The Asante Nation said the crisis requires careful reflection, dialogue, and wisdom to resolve peacefully.
“Dear Madam MP, With all due respect, don’t come and place undue pressure on our King regarding a matter that requires careful reflection, dialogue, and wisdom to resolve peacefully. This decades-long conflict cannot be rushed, nor should it be approached with political urgency.” The X user said.
Adding that one can only plead with the Asantehene to do something for him but urging the Monarch of the Asante Kingdom is unacceptable.
“If you feel that our King is delaying the process, you are at liberty to take the case elsewhere, perhaps to someone you believe will fast-track it for you. But what must be made clear is this: you do not tell our King what to do. You can’t “urge” our King, you can only “Plead” with him. Thank you.” They said.
“No one directed your side to use an already delicate situation for partisan gains during the 2024 elections. It would be unfair to now expect His Majesty to deliver an immediate solution to a problem that has been deepened by political actions. Let us all approach this issue with the patience and respect it deserves, rather than shifting blame or imposing timelines.” Part of the post read.
