President John Dramani Mahama has suspended the Director-General of the National Cyber Security Authority (NCSA), Divine Selasi Agbeti, for using a military bodyguard during public events without authorisation.
Mr. Agbeti is on two weeks suspension to allow a thorough investigation into the matter.
A letter signed by the Secretary to the President, Dr. Callistus Mahama described Mr. Agbeti’s decision to use a military officer as a personal bodyguard as “inappropriate” and said the incident had brought embarrassment to the government.
His suspension follows the withdrawal of military protection civilians including public officials, former ministers, businessmen, and women, among others who are not entitled to it by the Ministry of Defence.
“As part of our #Reset agenda to restore discipline and accountability, we’ve withdrawn military protection for civilians (including public officials, former ministers, businessmen, and women, among others) who are not entitled to it.” Dr Edward Omane Boamah.
