Fighting Over the Slightest Thing Is How We Roll – Dope Nation

The popular Ghanaian twin musicians Dope Nation have spoken about how their frequent petty fights while growing up led to their conscious decision to stop dressing alike, a move that has influenced both their personalities and music production.

They went on to share how, unlike most twins who often appear in matching outfits, they now embrace different styles with diverse fashion identities and rarely dress the same.

Speaking during the premiere season of Just Being Us with MzGee, both took turns explaining some long-held assumptions about their upbringing and creative journey.

“In our side of the world, it’s compulsory for parents to dress twins the same when you step out. But we never liked the idea, so we squashed it at a point,” they said.

Their clashes weren’t only about clothing but also extended to how they make and produce music.

“There was a fight over a tie-and-dye attire just before senior high school. After that, our dad had enough of us, so he decided to separate us. One of us went to a boys’ school and the other to a mixed school.”

“We fight and disagree a lot, and it’s mostly over a song, the kind of instrument we want to use, or where we want to hold our next concert.”

They even revealed that one of their songs, Today, was created out of a clash.

Despite their differences, they believe this back-and-forth has become a crucial step that has helped shape their career and music journey.
