Giving me 50% royalties on my own song is not a charity case – Strongman replies Sarkodie

Ghanaian rapper, Osei Kwaku Vincent also known as Strongman has replied multiple award winning Ghanaian rapper, Michael Owusu Addo, known professionally as Sarkodie for claiming he pays his former label signees, Akwaboah and Strongman despite leaving his Sarkcess record label.

According to Strongman, Sarkodie giving his former label signees 50/50 of the money earned on their own songs is not a charity case.

He said his own song he invested money in is generating money on Sarkodies’s Sarkcess record label for him to also benefit and for that matter he also has the right to say he still pays Sarkodie.

“I don’t understand if Sarkodie says he still pays us royalties. He pays me royalties because the song is for me, there is a saying that addition is commutative (2+3 = 5) at the same time (3+2=5). And multiplication is also commutative (2×3=6) and (3×2=6). Like what Sarkodie said he pays me, I also have the right to say that I still pay him after leaving his record label on my song I recorded.” Strongman stated.

“Because the money he is giving me doesn’t come from anybody’s pocket it is my own song. It is my own song, I was part of the promotion, I wrote the song, I paid people for the beat so if there is any way to pay royalties on my own song I don’t see anything wrong. So I was shocked when Ghanaians were talking about this.” He added.

“He (Sarkodie) said he pays 50%, so where is the other 50%, it goes to his pocket, so is equal. He takes 50% and gives you the artist who owns the song 50% so this is not a charity case.” Strongman indicated.

Entertainment fans expressed their various views after Sarkodie revealed that he is among the few Record Labels who pays their former artistes.
