How an internship doctor at KATH allegedly left a man ‘paralyzed’ after a medical procedure

A young man has shared his ordeal after an alleged internship doctor at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi left him ‘paralyzed’.

Sharing his ordeal on X, the young man stated that he started to experience severe pains after the doctor drew blood from his right thigh during his regular medical procedures.

According to him, he could not walk or stand on his feet after he was discharged.

Adding that his mother took him back to the hospital and when they called the doctor he told them that he only came to KATH for his attachment so the Doctors at the Hospital will take care of him.

“The doctor asked me to remove my shorts to draw blood, so I did exactly what he asked me but after drawing the blood, I started to feel severe pains to the extent that I could not do anything. And after I was discharged I could not walk or stand on my feet so my mother took my back to Komfo Anokye emergency and when I called him he told my mother that he just came and did his internship and he is no more there so the Doctors at KATH will take care of me.” He stated.

He stressed that the Doctors advised him to go for hip surgery but he is still at home because of financial challenges.

“So after further examination and X-ray, the Doctors told me that the bone in my hip has damaged so they will discharge me and put me on medication until I get money for hip surgery before my leg can function well like before. But I am still at home because we don’t have money.” He lamented.
