Former managing director of GIHOC Distilleries, Maxwell Kofi Jumah has been picked up by men suspected to be national security operatives at his Kumasi residence.
Kofi Jumah was arrested on Sunday 29 June, 2025.
It would be recalled that last month, State security operatives stormed former President Akufo-Addo’s in-law’s home to effect his arrest in connection with alleged financial improprieties but he was not at home.
Mr. Kofi Jumah has been accused of unauthorised disposal of a company asset valued at over US$700,000 and he allegedly bought a 2018 Hyundai Genesis G90 saloon car valued at over US$100,000 for only GH¢4,943.11.
Ashanti Regional Communication Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Paul Yandoh who confirmed the news to Asaase Radio said the men claimed they affected his arrest under a warrant.
According to reports, Mr. Kofi Jumah is in the custody of the Ashanti Regional Police Command pending further decision.
Paul Yandoh who believes the arrest of the former Managing Director of GIHOC Distilleries was politically motivated said the National Security Operatives did not allow him to change his clothes.
Reports say no official charges and no official statement has been made.
It is said three Lawyers arrived at the Ashanti Regional Police Command to seek for a bail for Mr. Kofi Jumah.
President Mahama led National Democratic Congress (NDC) has vowed to recover every loot that occurred under the previous government.
The NDC has accused the previous government of spending state funds for their personal gains while the citizens were suffering from draconian taxes.
The government has since launched Operation Recover All Roots to ensure every thing belongs to the state is been rev=covered.
