Renowned Kumawood actress Matilda Asare has responded to critics who have linked her Master’s degree in Management and Human Resource Strategy from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) to her political affiliation.
She graduated on Friday, 27th June, 2025.
After her graduation videos and photos came out, some social media users claimed she was forced to go school in order to get a top appointment in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) should the party win the 2018 elections.
One user said “She’s preparing for her NPP appointment in 2058”. Another one added the NPP will give her appointment. “Next 52 hears, npp will give her position” While another X user indicated that Matilda has already taken a move to enter into politics.
“Big move ..make she now enter politics” The user wrote.”Ɔde bewia sika wɔ npp aban mu pɛɛɛ.” Another one added.
Reacting to these claims, Matilda Asare stated that their claims are baseless.
According to the actress, she was encouraged to pursue her Master’s degree and specific a program that deals with Management and Human Resource Strategy due to her new business.
She explained that currently she is into production and it requires more strategic and human relations so for her to provide good services and professionalism, she needed to go and study.
Adding that she needed more skills to help promote the industry.
“These are some of the things we need to promote the industry. It is my wish that we go higher than this so education is essential. Politics is there but we are into this business before politics so we have to be focused and do things that will help the industry and our businesses to grow” Matilda Asare stated.
She continued that education is what everyone needs and for that matter she advised her colleagues to continue their education if the opportunity comes.
“Education is good so I think anyone who gets the opportunity should take advantage, especially my colleagues.” She concluded.
