New FIC Board inaugurated to strengthen fight against money laundering, terrorism financing

 

The government has inaugurated a new seven-member Board for the Financial Intelligence Centre (FIC) to help strengthen the ongoing fight against money laundering, terrorism financing, and other financial crimes.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony the Minister of Finance, Cassiel Ato Forson stated that financial crimes such money laundering, terrorism financing threaten the integrity of Ghana’s financial system so the Board will play a crucial role in fighting against the menace.

The new seven-member Board for FIC is chaired by Mr. Mike Kofi Afflu.

“Earlier, I had the honour of inaugurating a new seven-member Board for the Financial Intelligence Centre (FIC). This Board will play a critical role in our ongoing fight against money laundering, terrorism financing, and other financial crimes that threaten the integrity of our financial system.” The Minister said.

I congratulate the new Board members comprising:

Mr. Mike Kofi Afflu (Chairperson),

Mr. Albert Kwadwo Twum Boafo (Chief Executive),

Ms. Grace Mbrokoh-Ewoal (Ministry of Finance),

Ms. Elizabeth Ama Yankah (National Security),

Dr. Kwasi Osei Yeboah (member)

a representative from the Ministry of Interior,

and a representative from the Attorney-General’s Department.
