President Mahama to host historic state visit by Czech President Petr Pavel

President John Dramani Mahama is set to host the President of the Czech Republic, His Excellency Petr Pavel, for a three-day State Visit to Ghana from April 8 to April 10, 2025.

In a press statement released on Friday, April 4, and signed by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the Spokesperson to the President & Minister for Government Communications, the visit marks a historic milestone as it will be the first by a Czech President since diplomatic relations were established between Ghana and the former Czechoslovakia in October 1959. It will also be the first State Visit hosted by President Mahama since his return to office in January 2025.

During his stay, President Pavel will engage in high-level bilateral talks with President Mahama to strengthen diplomatic and economic ties between the two nations. Key areas of discussion are expected to include trade, investment, and cooperation in health, education, and infrastructure development.

The Czech leader will also address a business forum aimed at fostering partnerships between Ghanaian and Czech enterprises. As part of efforts to enhance health collaboration, he will inaugurate a Czech-funded health facility, further solidifying his country’s commitment to Ghana’s healthcare sector.

In addition to official engagements, President Pavel will visit significant historical sites, including the Osu Castle and the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, to pay homage to Ghana’s rich history and culture.

To honor the visiting Head of State, President Mahama will host a State Dinner, providing an opportunity for both leaders to strengthen diplomatic relations in a more informal setting.

THREE-DAY STATE VISIT BY PRESIDENT PETR PAVEL OF THE CZECH REPUBLIC.

President John Dramani Mahama will host the President of the Czech Republic, His Excellency Petr Pavel, next week for a three-day State Visit to Ghana.

The visit from April 08 to 10, 2025, will be the first by a Czech President since diplomatic relations were established between Ghana and then Czechoslovakia in October 1959. It will also be the first State Visit hosted by President Mahama since his return to the Presidency in January 2025.

While in Ghana, President Petr Pavel will hold bilateral talks with President Mahama, address a business forum, inaugurate a Czech-funded health facility and visit the Osu Castle and Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park.

President Mahama will host a State Dinner in honour of the visiting Head of State.
