Rev. John Ntim Fordjour calls on NDC supporters to demand accountability from government appointees

The Member of Parliament for Assin South and Ranking Member on Parliament’s Defence and Interior Committee, Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, has called on grassroots supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to demand accountability from officials appointed by their government.

In a strongly-worded post on his verified X (formerly Twitter) account, Rev. Fordjour expressed concern over what he described as the extravagant lifestyles of certain government appointees, just 120 days into office. He questioned the source of their sudden wealth, citing examples of luxury vehicles, high-end gadgets, and public displays of cash.

“In just 120 days they’re arrogantly and opulently sharing dollars  in public, having stashed millions of cocaine dollars under their beds. These are people who have never worked a day in their lives in any company.” He stated

He also pointed to the display of expensive electronic devices and luxury vehicles as symbols of excessive spending in the midst of economic hardship faced by ordinary citizens.

“They are displaying ultra expensive phones and tablets on set; which worth can build classroom blocks in their constituency.

“They’ve suddenly acquired and driving around $450,000 Range Rover Autobiography in less than 120 days in office. Yet all these are being done on the back of ‘toothless’ Code of Conduct which cannot and will not be applied.” He wrote.

Rev. Fordjour lamented what he described as the ineffectiveness of Ghana’s Code of Conduct for public officeholders, calling it “toothless” and ineffective in curbing unethical behavior.

He further criticized what he sees as misplaced loyalty from some NDC supporters who, despite enduring economic difficulties and frequent power outages, continue to defend the government on social media.

“Yet, hungry NDC fanatics, sleeping in Dumsor heat and enduring the rising cost of living, will be spewing nonfa on social media with their 1 Ghana cedi data. You worked, they’re chopping! You must demand accountability from your opulent appointees.” He stated
