Financial analyst and economist Scott Bolshevik has named former Finance Minister Seth Terkper as one of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) leaders who are fit to lead the party in the 2028 elections.

According to him, Seth Terkper’s background as an economist, technocrat, and reformer makes him a strong candidate for Ghana’s presidency.

Adding that he is a man of discipline, integrity, and long-term vision.

“Terkper is known for his discipline, integrity, and long-term vision.” He said.

“Seth Terkper’s background as an economist, technocrat, and reformer makes him a strong candidate for Ghana’s presidency. With a Master’s in Public Administration from Harvard and experience at the International Monetary Fund (IMF), he brings both global expertise and deep local insight.” Scott Bolshevik posted on X.

Highlighting some of Mr. Seth Terkper’s achievements during his tenure as the Finance Minister, Scott Bolshevik indicated that he helped modernize Ghana’s tax system, improving revenue collection and accountability.

“As Ghana’s Finance Minister (2013–2017), he led the country through economic turbulence negotiating an IMF bailout, stabilizing public finances, and implementing critical reforms like the Public Financial Management Act and the Sinking Fund. His earlier work as Deputy Finance Minister helped modernize Ghana’s tax system, improving revenue collection and accountability.” The Economist added.

“He prioritizes transparency over populism and continues to influence fiscal policy through his think tank, Pemerthus Consult. In a time when Ghana seeks competent, honest leadership, Seth Terkper represents stability, reform, and sustainable growth.”

As the various political parties in Ghana are putting in place mechanisms to secure power in the 2028 elections, some names within the NDC have been popped up as the best candidates to lead the party.

These include the National Chairman of the Party, Johnson Asiedu Nketia.

Meanwhile, the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has set January 2026 to elect their flagbearer.

Currently, former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, former Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, former Agric Minister, Bryn Acheampong as well as former Education Minister, Hon. Osei Yaw Adutwum have declared their intention to contest for the flagbearership position.
