Solid Foundation Educational Complex Administrator urges parents to support art classes

The Administrator of Solid Foundation Educational Complex, Pastor Samuel Osei, has appealed to parents to support their children in actively participating in art classes, stressing that creative work lays a solid foundation for pre-vocational skills and STEM education.

He made the call in an interview with the media during the school’s 8th Graduation Ceremony, which saw four categories of learners being promoted from Pre-school to Early Grade, Early Grade to Upper Primary, Upper Primary to Junior High, and finally, the group that completed this year’s BECE.

This year’s ceremony was held on the theme “Rebranding and Repositioning the Past, Present, and the Future.” The school is expected to vacate after the event and reopen on September 2, 2025.

Pastor Osei explained that the institution’s vision goes beyond academics, as it equally emphasizes extra-curricular activities aimed at nurturing learners’ talents.

“We are celebrating our 8th Graduation Ceremony, during which we are graduating four groups of learners: from Pre-school to Early Grade, from Early Grade to Upper Primary, from Upper Primary to Junior High, and finally, those who have just completed this year’s BECE.

“The theme for this year’s ceremony is ‘Rebranding and Repositioning the Past, Present, and the Future.’ After the graduation, we will vacate and reopen on the 2nd of September, 2025.

“At Solid Foundation Educational Complex, we do not only focus on academics, but also place great importance on extra-curricular activities to nurture the talents of our learners. The new curriculum emphasizes pre-vocational skills and STEM education, so we find it necessary to give our learners a strong foundation in these areas.” He told our reporter

According to him, the school has introduced art classes as a way to lay a solid foundation in pre-vocational skills and STEM education for all learners who enroll at the school.

“We are introducing these skills at an early age to help them understand the value of creative work. Art, for instance, is very valuable, and we encourage parents to support their children in participating in our art classes.”

Touching on the school’s performance, the headteacher of the school, Mr. Godfred Amanfo Takyi revealed that Solid Foundation is doing remarkably well academically.

“The school is performing very well academically. This year’s BECE is our fourth time presenting candidates, though it is my second year as headteacher. Last year, the school presented 20 candidates, and by the grace of God, all passed. Their grades ranged between Aggregate 7 and Aggregate 18, which is highly commendable.

“This year, we also presented 20 candidates, and although WAEC is yet to release the results, we are optimistic that the performance will be even better.” He stated

He stated that he envisions making Solid Foundation Educational Complex the leading Science and Mathematics basic school in Techiman. With 30 years of experience in education, Pastor Osei emphasized the importance of equipping learners with a strong foundation in Maths and Science, adding that such grounding enables them to excel in any career path.

“Our vision is to make Solid Foundation Educational Complex the best Science and Mathematics basic school in Techiman. With my 30 years of experience in education, I know that learners with a solid foundation in Maths and Science do not struggle in their future careers, as they can easily fit into every sector.” He said.

A learner at the school, in an interview with our reporter, pleaded with parents to support them in pursuing a career in the arts.

“I plead with parents to continue sponsoring and supporting our art classes. Art can become a source of livelihood in the future. What we are doing here is laying the foundation that will propel our learners to become designers and architects tomorrow. Parents should not only focus on the theoretical aspect of education but also on the practical, of which art classes are an important part.”
