Techiman South Mayor demands quality and accountability from contractors

The Metropolitan Chief Executive for Techiman South, Hon. Kwaku Adjei-Mensah, has cautioned contractors in the municipality against using inferior materials in executing projects under his administration.

He disclosed that he would not condone substandard work, regardless of a contractor’s affiliation with the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC). Recalling a past experience, Hon. Adjei-Mensah said he once led a delegation to commission a toilet facility, only to be embarrassed by the poor quality of the work delivered.

“I was completely ashamed when we arrived at the site. The contractor had done an unacceptable job, and the quality was far below standard,” he said.

He vowed to intensify monitoring of all projects and appealed to contractors to adhere to quality standards and use only approved materials. Hon. Adjei-Mensah lamented that some rulling party-affiliated contractors have a track record of delivering poor work, but assured residents that such practices will no longer be tolerated.

“I do not want such an incident to happen again. I will be proactive in my dealings with contractors and will insist on quality workmanship. I would rather be criticised by party contractors and work with professionals who deliver quality projects than be praised for endorsing substandard work.”

He further revealed that he has already met with municipal engineers and informed them that no shoddy work will be accepted during his tenure. According to him, this stance is part of his broader commitment to ensuring value for money, accountability, and the delivery of durable infrastructure for the people of Techiman South.
