Ghanaian TikToker and rising music promoter Eugene Ananzo Junior, popularly known as Ananzo Official, has revealed that the $5,000 he received from Nigerian superstar Davido a few days ago is still untouched — because he has plans for it.
Ananzo, who gained attention for singing and vibing to songs by various artistes on TikTok, recently performed Nigerian Afrobeat artiste Davido’s With You. The video went viral and caught the attention of Davido himself.
The heartfelt performance touched many on social media, including Davido, who reposted the video and announced that he would gift Ananzo $5,000.
In the post, Davido included a contact for Ananzo to reach out:
“5K USD for you. OLS @deekay_dmw,” he wrote.
However, days later, Ananzo revealed that he hadn’t yet received the promised money. This led to backlash from netizens, who criticized Davido for not fulfilling his pledge.
In an interview, Ananzo stated that he wasn’t overly concerned about the money, as the repost alone meant a lot to him — having significantly boosted his social media reach.
“I’m not that much concerned about the money because after Davido reposted my video, my followers skyrocketed from 200k to 800k,” he said.
Shortly after the backlash, a video surfaced showing Ananzo with members of Davido’s team receiving the $5,000. To confirm, he also shared photos and videos holding the money.
Speaking in an interview on Joy Prime, Ananzo disclosed:
“I haven’t touched the $5,000 Davido gave me. It’s there. I have plans for it, and they’ll soon be revealed.”
To Ananzo, the gesture went far beyond a financial gift:
“I believe God transformed himself into Davido to take me out of my hardships,” he concluded.
