Lawyer Tsatsu Tsikata has opened up on the legal feud between him and former President John Agyekum Kufuor.
It would be recalled that the lawyer was jailed under former President Kufuor’s administration which many people described as politically motivated.
Speaking in an interview with GhOne TV monitored by Elvisanokyenews.nt, Tsatsu Tsikata categorically stated that he has nothing against the former president.
He argued that former President Kufuor orchestrated his jail term but he had not no bitterness against the former president.
“There is nothing to forgive. In fact, I say to people that I never had any bitterness or any feeling of grievance against President Kufuor. He did something unpleasant against me personally, whatever reason, he was determined to send me to prison and I did go to Prison orchestrated by him on June 18, 2008 for five months by God’s grace I didn’t die in prison I was evacuated to the hospital and by God’s grace I am still alive.” He said.
He also explained why he rejected president Kufuor’s presidential pardon.
“Now, he tried the last day in office to offer me a pardon but I rejected it because it was clearly a bad faith. The day I was sentenced the court was not aware that I was going to face jail term because the case had ended.” He stated.
Adding that spending 5 months in prison gave him more experience in life.
“You know what, actually thank God for that experience because I tell people that going to Nsawam prison took me to another University, another Faculty of law because I was engaged in people who were in prison and I realised that there are other people who are suffering in justices…..There were some because who were in jail for 12 years without help so I counted myself as privileged person.”
“At the end of the day, whatever suffering I was supposed to go through turned out otherwise. ”
